THE PARRAMATTA PLAY PROJECT WORKSHOPS

Group of people having a discussion in a cozy cafe with hanging plants and warm lighting.

About the Workshops

The Workshops are a mini-version of The Parramatta Play Project's play generator process - focused on building skills and networks, while expanding the playwriting portfolios of eight emerging/early-career Western Sydney playwrights.

Group discussion around a table in a warmly lit room.

The Commitment

The Workshops will take place in August 2026.

The selected Playwrights will determine which of the times and dates from 8th August - 23rd August will work best for them.

Each writer is required to commit to up to 21 hours of workshop time.

You need a willingness to write, a willingness to share, and a commitment to collaboration.

Group of people in a circle having a discussion or rehearsal.

The Outcomes

There are several outcomes for the PPP Workshops. Writers will:

Connect with local western Sydney writers

Build playwriting skills with a focus on character, place, conflict and action.

Generate up to 10 pages of new script material across the 21 hours of workshop

Learn more about the past, the present and the proposed future of Parramatta.

Have the opportunity for their work to be read as part of Parramatta's Lit!
